Many, but not all, of the ITMA Teachers of Meditation were trained by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Some of them taught his meditation for decades. We respect and honor that tradition.
However, to be clear, Neither ITMA, nor its teachers, nor the form of Meditation it teaches, are affiliated in any way to the organizations founded around the world by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi or licensed to teach programs such as the Transcendental Meditation, TM®, and TM Sidhi programs.
ITMA does not claim to teach, or to offer Transcendental Meditation (TM) or similar programs. Our association respects existing legal trademarks and copyrights wherever, and whenever, they exist.
No medical claims or merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose are made by ITMA.
ITMA meditation and Teachers of Meditation Academy courses are completely different, non-comparable and non-compatible with the teaching of competing organizations. ITMA curriculum builds on the combined hundreds of years of teaching experience, of our ITMA teachers of meditation, on the universal principles of consciounsess, and on the ancient Indian science of Yoga

Question:
Is the Meditation taught by certified teachers of ITMA the same technique as TM®?

Answer:
ITMA teachers teach Meditation, and naturally, people ask us if ITMA teaches the same technique as TM®. The answer is no. Our meditation and TM® are different procedures or methods for learning deep, life-transforming types of meditation, and the associations and teachers of their
respective programs are not connected with each other. Meditation taught by ITMA and TM have no relationship to one another and the TM organization does not endorse the ITMA program in any manner. ITMA attempts to duplicate as many of the benefits and results of TM® as it can, using a completely different teaching model and materials. As a result, we are able to train top notch professional teachers of meditation at a fraction of the cost of competing meditation teacher programs, in a highly structured and professional manner.

While we invite comparison with TM®, our Meditation stands on its own as a way to eliminate stress from the nervous system, thus bringing peace, happiness, intelligence, creativity, harmony, love, and success to life spontaneously. On a global scale, ITMA has the goal of ending addictions,
crime, selfishness, injustice, trauma, and war from national and international life. We accept that these goals are ambitious and may not be easily achievable in the short term. But, by teaching people worldwide how to reduce the stresses of daily life, ITMA creates a positive and
harmonious influence on the local level, which will tend to translate eventually to a positive and harmonious influence on the global level.
